Another solution is to build the FF Stove (with the inverted aluminum V-8 can as pictured above) to your Simmer Ring needs and build a Bicycle 3-spoke pot stand to the pot bottom lift height you need for the fastest Boil Time. In using the inner can as the pot lift, almost 4 square inches of the flame is shielded from striking the pot's center bottom, which can be easily verified by watching 2 cups of water come to a boil with no lid on the pot. With a 1 3/4" inner cylinder height you will not need a simmer ring at all using the FF stove in Stove Mode, with the pot resting on top of the stove. Instead of the flame hitting the pot bottom as a more than 2" wide cylinder, it will transform into a cone shaped flame pattern to heat much more of the pot bottom than the cylindrical flame can....Karl.
